eCommerce and Product Photography Policy

Introduction

Product Photography: Diamond Rings

Our objective is to present products in the most authentic and visually appealing manner possible. To achieve this, we aim to photograph products without alterations or enhancements whenever possible. However, some physical changes to a product may be necessary to facilitate its appearance for aesthetic purposes.

Photography Enhancements

To ensure the best representation of the product, the following enhancements may be applied:

  • Removal of Protective or Tamper-Resistant Consumer Seals: Seals may be removed to avoid extensive and unnecessary retouching.
  • Removal of Tubes in Pump Bottles: Tubes may be removed to present the product more effectively.
  • Use of Adhesives: Adhesives may be used to keep products positioned correctly during photography.
  • Dulling Agents: High shiny surfaces may be dulled to reduce reflections and glare.
  • Enhancement Agents: Additional agents may be applied to enhance areas that should reflect a high shine or gleam.
  • Cap Removal: Caps may be removed, especially for white-on-white products, to improve visual clarity.
  • Color Correcting Filters: Filters may be used to enhance certain colors or lettering, ensuring they match the original colors of the product within a reasonable, but not necessarily exact, color match.
  • Product Contents: Contents may be emptied or removed for photographic enhancements.
  • Proper Focus: Ensuring the product is in sharp focus, especially for items with intricate details.
  • Background Selection: Using clean, neutral backgrounds to avoid distractions.
  • Reflection Control: Managing reflections on shiny surfaces using polarizing filters or light tents.
  • Lighting Adjustments: Using softboxes, reflectors, or diffusers to achieve even lighting and reduce harsh shadows.
  • Perspective Correction: Ensuring the product is not distorted by using the correct focal length, typically between 85mm and 145mm.
  • Color Balance: Adjusting the white balance to ensure accurate color representation.

Post-Production Retouching

Retouching services may be used in post-production to enhance the quality of the final image. This may include:

  • Color Correction: Adjusting colors to ensure they match the original product as closely as possible.
  • Removing Imperfections: Eliminating dust, scratches, and other imperfections from the product’s surface.
  • Image Sharpening: Enhancing the clarity and sharpness of the image.
  • Background Cleanup: Ensuring the background is clean and free from any distracting elements.

Client Responsibility

Clients accept all responsibility to restore products submitted for photography to resale condition. It is the client’s duty to ensure that products are reconditioned appropriately after photography.

Creative and Intellectual Process

All enhancements and alterations mentioned are part of the creative and intellectual photographic process. Clients acknowledge and accept these enhancements, whether deemed necessary by the client or not, as an integral part of achieving the best photographic results.

Conclusion
